In three short weeks the Spanish season will begin with the first date on the calendar: the Ajalvir Fair
A new year has arrived and we are beginning to warm up for the 2019 season. As expected, Ajalvir will kick off and the Valdemorillo Fair will follow on the first weekend of February.
In the capital will open the Winter Fair in Vistalegre with a serial presented before Christmas. It will be held on 23 and 24 February and is composed of the show ‘Taurochiquillos’ on Saturday morning, Trimmers Contest on Sunday at 12.00 pm, and the highlight: El Cid and Emilio de Justo hand in hand with a livestock challenge on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. They will face the irons of Victorino Martín, Puerto de San Lorenzo and Parladé in what will be the first commitment for the bullfighter from Salteras in his year of farewell to the bullrings.
The great news of Fallas is the reappearance of Paco Ureña. After the serious goring in Albacete last September, in which he lost the vision of an eye, the Murcian announced at the end of 2018 his return for the month of March. It is also confirmed the presence of Victorino Martín’s livestock, as well as Núñez del Cuvillo, Juan Pedro Domecq, Victoriano del Río, Fuente Ymbro, Jandilla and Alcurrucén.
The bulls of the crowned A will be the protagonists of the first bullfight of the season in Las Ventas. It will be Palm Sunday for the third consecutive year, next April 14th. The season of Madrid has the big question of the format of the Fair of San Isidro since Simón Casas expressed his intention to repeat the type of Autumn, perhaps with different drums for the draw by groups since to form more than a month of bullfights is a complicated task…but now we have to wait.
Resurrection Sunday will be the first great appointment of the Maestranza of Sevilla. On April 28, it is likely that we will see Morante, El Juli, Manzanares or Roca Rey, as announced by Ramón Valencia, the entrepreneur of Seville bullring.
These are the first strokes of the 2019 season, in which we invite you to join us and during which we will work very hard to be up to the task.
Happy week and a great 2019, bullfighting lovers!
