Palacio de Vistalegre, Carabanchel (Madrid) - DANA Festival
Bullfighting has always extended a helping hand to those most in need, throughout history and in every context. No exceptions. A quick glance through the archives reveals that behind every major catastrophe, there was always a professional from the world of bullfighting, no matter their role, ready to step in and assist.
With the devastating impact of the Dana floods that swept through the province of Valencia still being felt, the matadors wasted no time in offering their help in any way they could. Some headed directly to the disaster zone to provide immediate assistance, while others quickly set about organising benefit festivals. All with the aim of contributing, supporting, and making a difference, as it has always been.
The Community of Madrid, through its Bullfighting Affairs Centre, was one of the first to take action, organising a grand festival on Sunday, 1st December at 5 p.m. in the Palacio Vistalegre, located in the traditional Carabanchel district. This event will bring together some of the biggest names in bullfighting, forming a stellar line-up that reflects the genuine commitment of the finest bullfighters to those in dire need.
Opening the event will be recently retired Enrique Ponce, who was the first to step forward, especially as he hails from Chiva, one of the towns hardest hit by the devastating floods. Four of the top active matadors—Sebastián Castella, José María Manzanares, Alejandro Talavante, and Andrés Roca Rey—have also eagerly joined this cause. The line-up is completed by young talent Fernando Adrián, who has achieved three triumphal exits from Las Ventas in the last two seasons, and novice bullfighter Olga Casado, one of the most promising prospects from the Madrid Bullfighting School.
The bulls for the event have been generously donated by various prestigious and reputable breeders. Ticket prices have been set at affordable rates, reflecting the charitable nature of the event, so every fan has the opportunity to attend and contribute to supporting the flood victims.
The venue, Vistalegre, is a covered arena, providing comfort with individual, foldable seats and climate control. It is also well-connected, with parking available at the adjacent shopping centre and access via Metro lines 5 and 6 (Oporto and Vista Alegre stations) as well as bus line 34. Bullfighting is calling you. Valencia needs your support. Come to Vistalegre!
