La Flecha: Nine Years of Tradition and Solidarity

La Flecha Bullring

The town of Arroyo de La Encomienda – La Flecha, in Valladolid, celebrates nine years of solidarity in 2025. The company Tauroemoción has transformed this early-season event into a classic, held in a modern, heated, and covered coso (bullring). Featuring top figures in bullfighting, this festival supports the Valladolid Multiple Sclerosis Association, to which the proceeds are donated.

This year, the event will take place on Saturday, 15 February, cementing its position as a key date in the Castilian taurine calendar. The lineup for this edition is diverse and exciting, showcasing professionals from various generations.

The opening act will feature rejoneador Sergio Pérez de Gregorio, one of the most promising representatives of the new generation of mounted bullfighters. Despite the challenges young rejoneadores face in gaining recognition at major fairs, Pérez de Gregorio is equipped with the talent and skills needed to secure his place in the hierarchy.

Enrique Ponce, a living legend of bullfighting, graces the lineup with his presence. Now retired from regular competition, Ponce brings prestige and elegance to the festival, donning his traje corto (traditional short bullfighting suit) to perform in support of this noble cause.

Manuel Escribano is among the most versatile and powerful matadors of his generation. The Sevillian, who marked 20 years of alternativa (a matador’s formal graduation ceremony into the profession) last year, brings depth and gravitas to his craft, reflecting a career built on resilience and dedication.

This year also marks the farewell season for Cayetano, who appears at La Flecha as he prepares to leave the bullrings. As a member of one of bullfighting’s most renowned dynasties, Cayetano embodies the legacy of the Rivera, Ordóñez, and Dominguín bloodlines, standing as a proud heir to their tradition.

Emilio de Justo is undoubtedly one of the most talked-about matadors today. The Extremaduran made a remarkable comeback after a severe injury in 2022 that nearly ended his career. His recovery has not only been a personal triumph but has also solidified his place among bullfighting’s elite, following outstanding performances in Madrid, Seville, Málaga, and southern France.

Completing this stellar lineup is novillero Marco Pérez, who will face bulls from the prestigious Murubeño line of Castillejo de Huebra. Widely regarded as the most promising talent in his category, Pérez represents the future of bullfighting and is the perfect closing act for this extraordinary festival.

This promises to be a high-calibre spectacle. The future of bullfighting is undoubtedly in safe hands with young talents like Pérez paving the way.

Don’t miss this unique event—an essential date for locals and tourists alike!
