San Pedro Bullfighting Fair 2025
Zamora is, without a doubt, one of Spain’s most underrated historic cities. Often referred to as the Capital of Romanesque Architecture thanks to its exceptional collection of buildings from this period, this provincial capital has much more to offer than meets the eye.
Its Romanesque heritage is particularly striking: 23 churches within the municipal limits and 14 within the historic old town form a remarkable ensemble that has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest and is currently under consideration for European Heritage status. Among the architectural highlights is its cathedral, crowned by an iconic dome with an eye-catching scale-patterned exterior. The city is also home to a medieval castle, ancient walls, a Romanesque bridge, two historic palaces, and nine noble houses—all distinguished by their Romanesque style.
For art lovers, Zamora is a must. And if you’re also a fan of bullfighting (Tauromaquia), then you have the perfect excuse to stroll through the charming old quarter before heading to the bullring to enjoy the Feria de San Pedro. Because, even in the world of bullfighting, Zamora remains a well-kept secret.
On the 28th and 29th of June, the city’s privately owned bullring—full of vintage charm—comes alive with two major events: one rejoneo (mounted bullfighting) spectacle and one traditional bullfight. Both feature a combination of renowned names and rising stars.
On Saturday 28 June, bulls from the El Pilar ranch will enter the ring, to be faced by none other than Morante de la Puebla, a true legend of the modern era, alongside Emilio de Justo, making his debut, and Marco Pérez, a young talent hailed as the season’s most promising newcomer.
Sunday 29 June will delight fans of rejoneo, with bulls from Benítez Cubero and Pallarés set to be fought by a top-tier trio: Leonardo Hernández, an experienced and respected figure; Guillermo Hermoso de Mendoza, the leading name in the discipline; and Sergio Pérez de Gregorio, a young prospect from nearby Salamanca already turning heads in the current rankings.
The fair is rounded off with two more popular events: a thrilling recortadores competition (where daredevils dodge bulls without capes or swords) on Sunday 22 June, and a fun-filled Gran Prix for local peñas (social clubs) on Thursday 26 June.
This diverse and exciting programme has been put together by Tauroemoción, the events company led by Alberto García, who is making his debut at the helm of the Zamora bullring. Renovations are already underway to ensure the venue looks its best for the biggest weekend of the year in this city—where bullfighting is once again taking centre stage.
