Peregrina Festivities 2025
The San Roque bullring in Pontevedra turns an impressive 125 years old in 2025. It is the only active bullring in Galicia, and it wears that honour proudly with a fair—La Peregrina—that has become a model and reference point throughout the bullfighting world.
This season, Casa Lozano—owner of the bullring and organiser of the Galician series—has put together an exceptional programme, fitting for such a major milestone. Three top-tier bullfights featuring leading figures in the world of tauromachia, with plenty of exciting elements.
To begin with, the legendary Victorino Martín ranch returns to Pontevedra—one of the most prestigious brands of the past fifty years, currently enjoying a highly successful season. On Friday, 15 August, the final show of the cycle will feature three matadors who have each made headlines this year: Miguel Ángel Perera, Daniel Luque, and the young rising star Fernando Adrián.
The other two events will take place the weekend before, on 9 and 10 August. The series opens on Saturday the 9th with bulls from Alcurrucén (Núñez bloodline) and a line-up of renowned matadors: Sebastián Castella and José María Manzanares, joined by Emilio de Justo—who in recent years has not only shared billing with them but firmly established himself among the elite.
Sunday the 10th brings together three of the most stylish matadors of today: Morante de la Puebla, Alejandro Talavante, and Daniel Luque, who will face bulls from Garcigrande. Morante is undoubtedly the matador of the season, Talavante triumphed at San Isidro, and Luque comes to demonstrate his status and commitment as a key figure—being the only one scheduled for two afternoons in this feria.
This celebration will be the perfect tribute to the 125-year legacy of a bullring that has gracefully embraced the modern era. Recently renovated, the venue now features a 4,300 m² PVC membrane roof, offering protection from the elements while enhancing the arena’s reputation as a favourite among professional bullfighters.
Another reason to visit Pontevedra’s bullring is its vibrant and committed audience. While the shaded sections are typically filled with seasoned aficionados spending their holidays in the region, the sunny side is home to colourful peñas—cheerful yet deeply respectful groups of supporters whose enthusiasm and festive attire create an electric and welcoming atmosphere every afternoon.
This year is the perfect excuse for a getaway to Galicia in early August—to soak up the culture and charm of the region, enjoy an outstanding bullfighting line-up, and celebrate the 125th anniversary of a truly unique and distinctive bullring. Come and discover it for yourself.
