Review Illescas - 8 March 2025
Illescas kicked off its Feria del Milagro with an exciting bullfight, where three bullfighters made their way out through the big door. Juan Ortega stood out with a sublime performance, earning him two ears, while Alejandro Talavante and Fernando Adrián also achieved great success. José María Manzanares, however, had an unfortunate afternoon and was only greeted with applause after a lackluster performance.
The Plaza de Toros in Illescas, Toledo, opened the Feria del Milagro with a bullfight that offered fans thrilling moments. With nearly full stands, the bulls from Luis Algarra and Daniel Ruiz, of proper presence, provided excitement throughout the afternoon.
The main protagonist was Juan Ortega, who dazzled with a remarkable performance in front of the fourth bull of the day. His muleta work, particularly the high-assisted passes, was executed with astonishing slowness and purity, creating a sublime piece of art that won over the crowd. His precise and effective killing blow allowed him to cut two ears and exit the ring in triumph alongside two other figures of the event.
Alejandro Talavante, who fought the second and sixth bulls, also managed to exit through the big door thanks to a distinguished performance in front of the brave bull from Daniel Ruiz. Although his work with the second bull was less striking, he seized the opportunity with the sixth, delivering brilliant moments of bullfighting, which earned him two ears after a magnificent kill.
Fernando Adrián, for his part, began his afternoon with a dedicated performance in front of the third bull, a Luis Algarra offering. His courage and skill earned him two ears after an exciting piece of work, although his performance with the seventh bull, despite his commitment, was slightly diluted due to the bull’s condition. Nonetheless, Adrián received applause for his efforts.
José María Manzanares, who fought the first and fifth bulls, failed to make an impact. His performance was unimpressive, and he failed to connect with the crowd, receiving applause after both bulls but no further recognition.
The overall result of the afternoon was clear: Juan Ortega, Alejandro Talavante, and Fernando Adrián emerged as the big winners of the day, leaving the ring in triumph amid a delighted crowd. The first bullfight of the Feria del Milagro set a high standard for the following days in Illescas, where bullfighting remains the main attraction.
