Corrida del Motín 2026: Bullfighting as an Art Form

The magnificent neoclassical setting of Aranjuez brings together three masters of artistic bullfighting for a Corrida del Motín where time seems to stand still. An occasion not to be missed.

Next Sunday 6 September, at 6.30 pm, the historic Royal Bullring of Aranjuez, now more than two centuries old, will seem to bring time to a standstill. Against the magnificent backdrop of the Fiestas del Motín, officially recognised as an event of International Tourist Interest, this riverside bullring will host far more than a conventional bullfight: it will be a celebration of the artistic and aesthetic essence of Spanish bullfighting.

In the evocative Goyesque bullfight format, promoter Circuitos Taurinos has brought together a line-up that will delight even the most discerning aficionados: Morante de la Puebla, Juan Ortega and Pablo Aguado.
Three names synonymous with artistry, composure and duende, facing highly regarded bulls from Núñez del Cuvillo.

This is a bill in which the setting and the art of bullfighting appear perfectly matched. The neoclassical architecture of Aranjuez bullring, surrounded by the historic and palatial atmosphere of the Royal Site, provides the ideal canvas for three matadors whose style is built on patience rather than haste or spectacle.
This event celebrates bullfighting as a visual and emotional experience, where success is not simply measured by statistics or the number of ears awarded, but by the quality of the passes and the depth of the performance.
It is the world of the graceful verónica, the slow, low-handed natural performed with exquisite rhythm, and the final flourish full of torería that can provoke some of the deepest olés from a crowd with a long memory of unforgettable afternoons.

The presence of the genius from La Puebla del Río leads this feast for the senses. Morante de la Puebla returns to this traditional September fixture as one of the great guardians of bullfighting’s artistic traditions, in a two-century-old arena that he knows exceptionally well.

Aranjuez has long been one of the favourite venues of his illustrious career, one of those special bullrings where the maestro has appeared time and again to produce performances of lasting character.

His mastery and his distinctive interpretation of bullfighting, a living reflection of the golden history of the art, will be complemented perfectly by two fellow Sevillian matadors. Both arrive in Aranjuez with the backing of the two most significant recent landmarks at this bullring, achieved against the very same breeding line.

The anticipation surrounding Juan Ortega‘s return to Aranjuez stems from the extraordinary afternoon he enjoyed here last June. During that unforgettable San Fernando bullfight, Ortega delivered a masterclass in slow, measured and sublime bullfighting against an outstanding Núñez del Cuvillo bull.

He completed the performance with a perfectly executed killing thrust, earning the emphatic award of two ears and the tail.

The special relationship between this arena and the Cádiz-based breeding line reached another peak in May 2026, when Pablo Aguado produced a spectacular revival of his finest form.

His performance was full of joy, inspiration and rhythm, accompanied by the music of Granada. Aguado created a genuine sensation, once again claiming the maximum trophies of two ears and the tail from a superb and brave Cuvillo bull, which was itself awarded a lap of honour.

For aficionados who seek emotion through beauty, a visit to Aranjuez on 6 September is an unmissable date.

The Núñez del Cuvillo bulls, renowned for their class and measured rhythm, once again provide the ideal raw material for the duende and inspiration of these three outstanding matadors — all of whom already know what it means to elevate the art of bullfighting in this historic arena.
