Illescas bullfight: triumph for Manzanares, Ortega and Víctor Hernández
The Feria del Milagro came to a close in Illescas with a bullfight defined by collective success and a festive atmosphere in the stands. The line-up of José María Manzanares, Juan Ortega and Víctor Hernández emerged strengthened from an afternoon in which each matador left his mark against bulls from Román Sorando and Domingo Hernández, whose behaviour varied but still offered opportunities for expression.
Manzanares opened the afternoon with his hallmark classical composure, displaying elegant, flowing bullfighting. His first opponent allowed him to craft a refined performance, finished effectively with the sword to earn two ears. The fourth, however, lacked the same rhythm and potential, resulting in a quieter outcome.
Juan Ortega once again asserted his distinctive artistic personality. After a first bull that offered limited possibilities, the Seville-born matador found in his second the perfect canvas to express his depth and poise. His linked series and the quiet authority of his muleta connected strongly with the crowd, who rewarded his work with two trophies.
The youngest matador on the bill, Víctor Hernández, delivered one of the most impactful performances of the afternoon. In his first, he demonstrated determination and courage, drawing warm applause after a committed faena that fell short of a major reward due to the final thrust. However, he fully redeemed himself with the closing bull, completing a vibrant and effective performance that also earned him a triumph and a shared exit through the main gate.
The corrida left the impression of a memorable shared success, with three contrasting yet complementary styles. Illescas once again confirmed its ability to stage significant bullfighting events within the spring calendar.
